First comes a source - an ‘inlet’ if you will. Most people who build websites are looking for customers, however depending upon what kind of website you are building it may be subscribers (for a blog),

Someone, somewhere, sees your site and enters into your (virtual) domain. There is no cause for celebration just yet, though, we still have a lot of work to do.
